Background Rydges Hotel Campbelltown is in the extreme south-west of Sydney about 1 hour by train to central Sydney. The hotel is located just off the Hume Highway which brings traffic from Melbourne, Canberra and Adelaide. This location is the hotels main selling point as if you are visiting Sydney and do not want to drive through the streets and freeways of Sydney you can stay in Campbelltown and travel to the city by train. The hotel is located next door to the local Catholic club for cheap eating, drinking and gambling
Price I got a twin room for about $120 off of a discount website which I think is a good deal for Sydney. I was disappointed in the finish of the build. The hotel was less than 12 months old and the window wouldn’t shut and there were a few little flaws in the finish of the building. The first room we were shown, which was a double not a twin had the water running although there was nobody in the room that shows the staff are probably not up to scratch. The twin beds seem to be very narrow but then maybe I’m a bit too wide.
Verdict If you have a need for a room in Campbelltown its worthwhile but unless you need to be in Campbelltown I’d look further afield. |
